I have received many emails asking how to download older versions of modules because you do not wish to renew support or update to a newer version.

I only keep the two latest License versions and 1 Source Code version of the module on the server. An example of how this works is if you have v3.0.0 and your licensee support/update expired 2 years or 1 year ago. We have made several updates. The only version available on my server is the latest v3.1.0 and 3.0.1 (only the two latest versions). That means you cannot download because your version is 3.0.0, which is more than two versions old. You will need to renew support/update to get the latest version. It is your responsibility to make a backup of your server or PC of all versions, so you have them. Old versions are removed from my server, and only the two latest versions of modules are kept on my server.

It is never easy to make announcements of this kind.

No, but we are giving you an extra year due to the fact that we did not do any updates that year.

Since WHMCS Services now has several active versions and also different types of updates, there are 4 types of updates. These are:

Major Release: A major release is a new main version and contains changes to the core and usually introduces new features. 1.0 and 2.0 are major releases. You can recognize one such an update also the first number of the version number changes. With Major Releases there is always only one complete upgrade and no incremental.

Minor Release: A Minor release includes new features and can also include changes to the schema and prepare major updates. The versions 2.1.0, 2.2.0 and 2.3.0 are for example Minor Releases. These updates always change the average number. With Minor Releases there is always only one complete upgrade and no incremental.

Maintenance Release: Maintenance Release is, as the name suggests, maintenance updates where bugs are fixed. The versions 1.3.1 and 1.1.2 are, for example, such updates. Here the last number always changes. There is also a small incremental update for maintenance releases.

Security Release: Security releases contain security-relevant updates which, for example, close security gaps. These updates are usually accompanied by maintenance releases and should be implemented promptly. Here again, the last number of the version number changes.

We are posting this to you today because we want to take a moment to clarify how our releases work and the different types of releases we make.

Our goal is to try to release 2 to 3 features in a year for each module.  And a “Feature Request” driven by your requests. If you report a bug and if the bug is a major bug where the module doesn’t work, then we will release an update ASAP.

If it is a minor bug, where the module can still be used when we will release a new version or minor version at a scheduled time. I cannot provide an estimated time for completion of minor bugs, but I can tell you that it will not be a long period of time.

You can expect to see 2 or 3 non-maintenance version releases every 12 months. It all depends on whether a customer reports a major bug where the modules will not work or when WHMCS has scheduled a software release where a major bug was fixed and released.

We don't give any refunds for minor/maintenance bugs. That is, if we see the module can still be used 90% then we don’t give a refund. Now, if we check that the module doesn't work at all on your WHMCS server, then you will get credit or a refund from WHMCS Services Staff. Of course, we strive to make it work 100% on your whmcs server.
